Volunteer Deployment Opportunity – DE BEST
Deployment Start: Sunday, January 25
Coverage Window: Beginning at 9:00 AM (potential for 24/7 coverage based on need)
DE BEST is coordinating deployment support beginning Sunday, January 25. Coverage times and locations are contingent on community need. Please check this posting before your shift(s) to confirm deployment status.
Volunteers will help connect residents and responders with mental wellness resources, emergency preparedness guidance, and the Delaware Hope Line. Your presence supports safety, resilience, and community recovery.

Your Role as a Volunteer may include:
- Staff a DE BEST table at a resource center, shelter, assistance site, or POD
- Walk with VOAD/partner teams to engage impacted residents
- Distribute brochures, handouts, and Hope Line materials
- Provide supportive, compassionate communication and basic Psychological First Aid (PFA) when appropriate
- Build connections with local partners and document unmet needs
Note: This deployment prioritizes outreach, support, and information-sharing. Volunteers should use PFA skills when engaging with community members or responders showing signs of distress.
Prepare for Your Shift

A brief PFA refresher and familiarity with available resources will help you feel confident and well-prepared.
- Dress for weather (layers, waterproof footwear, hat/rain gear)
- Bring DE BEST vest, ID, charged phone, portable charger
- Bring water/snacks
- Carry Hope Line cards and at least one additional support resource (materials provided for linking/referrals)
Volunteer Requirements
- Complete required training via DETRAIN.org (PFA or CCP)
- Sign the Code of Conduct and Photo Release Waiver (digitally)
- Upload all certificates to your SERVDE.org profile
- Be confirmed as fully qualified by DE BEST staff

After You Sign Up
- We’ll review your profile to verify eligibility
- Approved volunteers will receive an email with the exact location, parking, and site safety notes
- A final reminder will be sent the morning of your shift
Timekeeping & Reporting
Clock in/out using the Causer app or the web portal link provided in your final email.
After your shift, you will be asked to report:
- Approximate number of people engaged
- Number of resources distributed
- Any notable unmet needs observed
