WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to ASSIST in Greenwood! PLEASE SIGN UP IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE. 

DETAILS

DE BEST Volunteers will support the response to a tornado that touched down in the Greenwood, Bridgeville & Ellendale area on Saturday, April 1.

You will be with VOAD's clean-up teams. Our role is NOT to do clean-up work, we will walk to different locations with the team and speak with survivors and responders. Please be prepared to speak with community members in need PFA support. Teams will meet at the Fire House 4/15, as well as 4/16 shift available at https://debest.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=801423, please see other dates/opportunity posted for meeting at 4/19 Town Hall at https://debest.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=801487.

Dress and plan appropriately for environment and weather as you will likely be standing and walking outside for lengths of time. Wear your vest and bring Hope Line cards and a another support resource. Please advise us if you do not have resources.

ROLE

We have been asked to provide PFA support to community members and responders. We will be providing Hope Line Resources as well. Volunteers must always be prepared to provide PFA to other volunteers and responders as well as community members. Please wear your vest and bring resources.

In the event that you are deployed, details will be sent to you by email as well. Please bring ID AND a digital or paper copy of the actual deployment email when reporting for your shift.

AFTER YOU SIGN UP

Once you have signed up for this opportunity, your profile will be reviewed for accuracy. You will be contacted if your profile does not reflect the proper trainings. If you feel the need for more direction, it is your responsibility to contact the Program Manager at 302.383.3130 immediately for more details about your role. 

YOUR DEPLOYMENT NOTIFICATIONS AND REPORTING

You will be emailed once your shift has been approved.

A reminder email will be sent the day before your deployment.

Remember to clock in/out for your shift using the link sent to email morning of shift. Important information is requested about your shift when you clock out.

Important FAQ and Other Information

Please do not self deploy. If you are unsure of your authorization to deploy, please call the Opportunity Contact or a DE BEST Representative. Keep in mind that NO deployment is authorized unless there is a signed Waiver, a signed acknowledgement of Code of Conduct on the volunteer’s SERVDE’s profile, AND all of the required training/s for the role (see below). While all of these are captured here on our portal, we will audit your SERVDE profile under "Trainings" to confirm that all of these have been recorded there as well.

DE BEST Required Trainings: PFA or CCP 

Desired Positions for each deployment will be assigned accordingly.

Peer Support Position

Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training (available online for free), and/or

Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) Training (SAMHSA's online “Just In Time” or virtual)

Mental Health Prof/Educator (MHP/E)

Mental Health Professional, and/or

4-year degree related to Human Services, and

Peer Support Position Requirements
