Celeste Peart) - called to order at 6:30 p.m.

(Celeste) - Review purpose and role of DE BEST Committee. Extends appreciation for all participants devoting their time and efforts toward the program. Our corps depends on you all, and you've exceeded the purpose of the team and met the needs of our community because of it.

[DE BEST mission: To serve the state of Delaware by establishing, implementing, and sustaining Delaware's reserve units of volunteer mental health and peer support to strengthen the substance and mental health response infrastructure, improve emergency preparedness, community crisis response, and increase resilience throughout Delaware.

DE BEST Committee mission construction: to align with organization mission. The purpose of the committee is to act as a volunteer-run, volunteer-attended engagement of volunteers with intention to provide direct feedback to DE BEST leadership about community needs, networking/recruitment/outreach opportunities and other recommendations for team development and programming.]

(Celeste) - Any volunteers with ideas of what they would like to focus on as a committee, please email cpeart@udel.edu so we can start reconstructing our mission as a committee.

Discussion - (Celeste) - New Registrations are lower than last year at this time.

(Jeff) suggested: reaching out to churches to spread our resources and to recruit.
(Enrico) suggested: to send out an email blast letting our volunteers know we need them to recruit as well.
Recommendation: Find volunteers to store & disperse extra recruitment and resource materials

Send out email blast reminding volunteers to recruit in the community

Distribute more resources throughout volunteers

 4) Volunteer Development

(Celeste) Reminded volunteers: Adele (BEST Volunteer and COMMITTEE CHAIR) will be presenting the upcoming Workforce Violence and PFA Training on December 13th, 2022 at 6:30 PM.

Volunteers requested in person training for this upcoming year. 

Reminder of Future Events:

• PFA and the Workplace Training by Adele Abrams: 12/13

In person interactive training for next training opportunity 

Discussion - (Celeste) requests ideas and comments for increasing volunteer participation in program activities

(Melanie) recommended: doing a survey to figure out where the lack of engagement is coming from. As well as what volunteers would be interested in doing in the future.

Reminder of Future Events:

• Food Banks Distributions: (3) monthly, one in each county- 12/12, 12/14, and 12/16

Volunteers request more details about program goals, as in specifics for recruitment and engagement activity numbers.

Celeste to share measurements for program at Quarterly Meetings when discussing accomplishments and activities.

7) Open Forum

(Marilyn) mentioned: people in the mental health field are experiencing a lot of compassion fatigue. Also shared her connection with faith organizations where there are responders we can support.

(Rick) suggested: reaching out to the Code Purple shelters for engagement opportunities.

(Celeste) reminds of DE BEST portal usage for activity postings and communications.

Next Committee Meeting is tentatively scheduled for January 24th, 2023, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
