Facilitated by our very own volunteer: Marilyn Siebold of Wilmington University.

Being able to identify trauma and retraumatization is crucial for appropariate support. We want all of our volunteers to be equipped to support our community with a trauma informed approach.
Trauma is a concern throughout our community, and volunteers specifically requested that we focus a training surrounding it. This workshop will provide you with tools and interactive skill-building surrounding how to handle trauma.
Marilyn is renowned for trauma informed training as a professor at Wilmington University. She gladly volunteered her time to develop and present this training for us, and we hope that you will take the time to join us.
Goals for this Workshop
DE BEST volunteers will enhance their use of the model of Psychological First Aid by expanding their capacity to be Trauma Aware and use the trauma-informed approach. Becoming more trauma aware will provide DE BEST volunteers with thought provoking questions about how to approach interactions with others based on the complexity of trauma and how it impacts responses to stressful situations. Volunteers will learn how a TIA helps to build resilience, with individuals and families we help, and with one another, as DE BEST volunteers.
In the two hours of the workshop, my objectives for the participants are that they will:
Objectives:
- Acquire new knowledge about trauma and ACES and the TIA.
- Gain confidence about building resilience, within ourselves, and with others, in crisis.
- Apply TIA Principles to situations encountered by DE BEST Volunteers.
Notes:
As with all of our events and opportunities, low sign ups may result in postponement or cancellation. Please be sure to sign up for this opportunity today. This will also ensure that you receive any updates.
